Hours Of Fun With The Best Toddler Doctor Kit, Australia 2020

Our little girl is obsessed with playing doctors and nurses. I’ve no idea where the obsession came from but she’s forever “fixing” teddies (not to mention her baby sister). I don’t really mind laying on the floor and pretending to be sick because it’s the only rest I actually get some days!

For Christmas, her grandma bought her the best toddler doctor kit I’ve ever seen! She was so happy and it’s providing hours of entertainment. So, I thought I’d review some of the best toy doctor kits I could find and reveal the one we have and love so much.

Why Should I Buy a Kids Doctor Kit?

There are endless toddler toys on the market today. So, why get them the best toy doctor kit? Well, there are actually a lot of benefits that come with a doctor kit set.

When you’re getting your little one a toy, the best one to buy is the one that’s not only a lot of fun but that they learn from in the process. If you get them a children’s doctor kit, this is one of the big perks.

Kids get to play pretend doctors and there are a lot of benefits of imaginative play that come with it. They learn a lot about the human body, some kids may get over their anxiety during doctor visits and much more.

Doctor kits also allow your young one to play with friends as they’re suitable for group play. This will help your little one develop empathy and social skills which they’ll need later on.

What to Look for in The Best Doctor Kit for Kids

There are a lot of doctor kits that you can buy on the market today. While that gives you a variety to choose from, all these choices can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for. Here are some of the factors you should consider to make sure you get the best there is on the market.

Material & Construction

When you’re looking for the best doctor kit for kids, this is one of the key factors to consider. You have to pick a kit made with the right material.

Doctor kits are made mostly of non toxic materials that are okay for kids to play with but it’s still good to ensure the material is safe for kids as they tend to put stuff in the mouth when they play.

You also need to ensure you get a kit whose pieces are made to last and can stand constant use. Fragile pieces will just break faster and your child will not play with the kit for long.

When you’re getting you’re getting your toddler a toy, you want to make sure it’s safe above all other things. The doctor kit is no exemption to this rule.

When you’re buying one make sure you get one that does not pose any threat to your child like choking. You ensure this by making sure your child is within the recommended ages. This is how the manufacturers ensure the toys are safe. If the kit’s pieces are too small for their age, they might end up swallowing them.

As I have already mentioned, the best doctors kits for toddlers are mostly made of non-toxic plastics but it’s still good to make sure that the material used to make the pieces is safe for you toddler.

Educational Value

The best kids’ doctor kit is one that allows them to have fun and learn at the same time. During the early developmental stages, kids learn through play.

This is why you have to ensure that you get them toys that inspire learning as the kids play. This way, learning is easy, effortless, and fun too.A realistic toy doctor kit allows kids to learn a lot about being a doctor. They may not necessarily end up becoming a doctor in the end but they can learn some useful lessons with a doctor’s kit.

An ideal toy set is supposed to inspire creativity in children. It’s supposed to have room too for kids to be creative. With a doctor’s set, kids have a lot of room to incorporate different play scenarios.

Doctor kits can also accommodate group play where a friend can pretend to be the patient while one plays a doctor. Some kits come with a Barbie doll that your little one can pretend care for making it very realistic.

When you’re looking for the best toy doctor set, make sure you get a set that inspires creativity and allows room for your young one to engage their curiosities.

Number of Pieces

Doctor kits come with different doctor equipment like the stethoscope, tweezers, and syringes, among others. The best toy medical kit is one that comes with enough pieces for your toddler to play with without getting easily bored.

If you want your little one to play with their friends, then you want to make sure you get a set with enough pieces for multiple kids to take part in.

With more pieces in a set, your kid can use different play scenarios which keeps them engaged for a longer time and it’s also a lot more fun.

 Extra Features to Look for

These are also other features you can look out for that make medical toy kits a lot more fun for kids.

  • Costumes – some doctor kits come with costumes for pretend play. You can find one that comes with a doctor’s coat to make things more lifelike.
  • Patients – in some kits, they include a doll as a patient if it’s a human doctor set or animals with a veterinarian doctor set. This makes the toy kit more fun and the pretend to play a lot more exciting and engaging.
  • Age range – make sure you get a set that is age-appropriate for your child. Most of the sets will have indicated age rage. Pay attention to that before you but one.

Best Doctor Kit for Toddler Reviews, 2020

My in-depth reviews will give you a better idea of which of these top-rated doctor kits will be best for your little one.

Barwa 44pcs Doctors Kit

This toy doctors kit is huge! The Barwa 44 pcs Doctors Kit even comes with dental equipment toys and a cute little dinosaur head full of teeth for kids to practice playing “dentist” on. My toddler is in love with the kit and we couldn’t believe how much was packed into the box when we opened it up!

It has some toys that light up but, fortunately, are not noisy and obnoxious (as some light-up toys can be!). The turquoise colour scheme is gender neutral and so is the costume which I love. This kit is not only heaps of fun for you and your kiddo to play with but helps teach some basic medical practices and overcome anxieties of going to the doctor in real life.

  • 44 pieces suitable for kids 3+
  • Kit size 21.5  x 15 x 17 cm

Plan Toys Doctor Set

The Plan Toys Doctor Set is one of the most organic kids doctor sets I’ve seen on the market. All the toys are made from natural rubberwood trees that have not been fertilized for three years prior to use! What’s even better is that the Plan Toys Doctor Set is made ethically. You can feel good about your toddler chewing and playing with these toys for sure!

This set does not come with a costume and there are not as many toys in it like others in this review, but each toy that is in here is well-made and durable. I actually like sets that don’t have a ton of toys as they can get overwhelming for young kids and pieces get lost easily. You’re sure to get loads of compliments about the quality of the wooden blood pressure monitor, stethoscope, reflex hammer, syringe, thermometer, and sharp red doctor’s carry case.

  • 5 pieces suitable for kids 3 +
  • Size 8 x 21.5 x 14  cm
  • Made with non-formaldehyde glue, organic pigment colours and water-based dyes
  • Made in ISO certified factory
  • Exceeds US and EU safety standards

Doctor Kit Pretend Play

The Doctor Kit Pretend Play is unique – it’s actually a rolling medical cart! Your kid will have a blast pushing this around the house and “diagnosing” everyone. It even has a fake ECG screen display with buttons and knobs to play with. The Doctor Kit Pretend play cart has a top shelf and bottom basket with room for the 17 pieces of medical toys.

I will say that this kit is mostly pink and may turn off some boys who would otherwise have fun playing with all the toys. There is no costume but some of the pieces light up and make sounds which makes it fun. This kit is on the taller side so make sure you’ve got room for it!

  • 17 pieces suitable for kids 2 and up
  • Size 58 x 32 x 41cm.
  • Made of non-toxic plastic
  • Batteries not included

Kidzlane Medical Doctor Kit

The Kidzlane Medical Doctor Kit is nice and portable. The doctor’s case is also clear on the back so kids can easily see if they’ve got all their tools for their next patient! There is no costume included but the neat thing about the Kidzlane Medical Doctor Kit is that there are moulds inside the case for the bigger toys (such as the stethoscope and the blood pressure cuff) to snap in place keeping them nice and secure.

This is a great kit for parents looking for a smaller sized kit that is reasonably priced but still has more than enough toys for girls and boys to play with. I love the traditional red, yellow, blue and white colour scheme.

You really can never go wrong with Melissa and Doug. The Doctor Role Play Costume Dress-Up set is focused more on the costume than lots of accessories, and the white lab coat with turquoise lining and toys is perfectly suited for both boys and girls to practice playing doctor.

The lab coat has big and clear pockets to fit the medical toys in so that your kid can take them anywhere and be able to remember what they brought! The stethoscope has heartbeat sound effects which is pretty cool. My friend bought this set for her boy and girl and they both love it.

Ambulance & Doctor’s Kit Vehicles

This super cute doctor’s kit comes with a set of wheels! The six checkup tools fit into an ambulance that your child can push to the scene of the next injury. I love the Green Toys brand because all of their plastic products are made from 100% recycled plastic and non toxic materials. Plus the quality is always super durable and lasts through multiple kids (which is why it’s a bit more money than other kits).

The colour scheme is gender neutral and is the only doctor’s kit in this review that comes with an ambulance, which makes up for the lack of a costume. It also comes with a set of doctor’s notes and stickers your child can actually write on.

Again, you can’t go wrong with Melissa and Doug. All their products are gender neutral and designed with care. Instead of setting up a lemonade stand, why not a doctor’s stand? Imagine all the fun you could have with this walk up medical kit!. The Medical Nurse and Doctor’s Kit even has a pretend sink to sanitize instruments.

This is a pretty comprehensive playset that includes 23 plastic medical toys and even pretend boxes of vitamins and band-aids. My little girl came by as I wrote this and asked when we were going to buy it!

Hape Doctor on Call

The Hape Doctor on Call kit is simple yet well made – each piece is made of eco friendly wood and cloth. This kit would be a great set to travel with as it doesn’t have a ton of pieces but still has everything your child needs to fix up any friend or toy.

The case is a bright cherry red and the medical toys will stand out amongst your kids’ other toys. Unlike some cheaper plastic counterparts, each accessory in the Hape Doctor on Call kit is well made and durable. There is no costume in this playset but it will last through multiple children and quickly become one of their go to playtime activities.

Le Toy Van Doctors Set

I absolutely love every piece in the Le Toy Van Doctors Set, from the large cloth doctor’s case to the blood pressure cuff that actually squeezes. You can tell each piece is well made and high quality, and the price reflects that. But this is a quality rubberwood doctor’s set that is durable and full of vintage charm.

There are not as many pieces in the Le Toy Van Doctor’s Set as you could get from a cheaper and plastic counterpart, but quality beats quantity in this case. Each piece has a lot of attention to detail and is sure to grab your child’s imagination. I love that the thermometer has a sliding knob on it and the reflex hammer looks just like the real thing! It really is a beautiful set that your kids could pass on to their kids one day.
