How to Prepare for Your Baby’s First Christmas

Most parents get excited about their baby’s first Christmas. It’s exciting to think that your baby will be there to enjoy the special holiday with you. Whether you have a newborn or your baby is close to one year old, the baby’s first Christmas is a very special time. Here is how to prepare for your baby’s first Christmas.

#1. Make a List of Traditions You Want to Implement

Not everyone has Christmas traditions that they stick with. What you may do with your one-year-old isn’t necessarily what you will do with your 15-year-old. However, it’s still fun to prepare some fun traditions. I like making a list so I don’t forget anything. It makes it easier to narrow down what to do with your baby on his or her first Christmas.

#2. Order Any Special Clothing 12 Weeks Before

When you want your baby’s first Christmas outfit to be special, there’s a little bit of prep that needs to be done. Make sure you order any special clothing at least 8-12 weeks before Christmas. Etsy, eBay, and Amazon are always hammered with sales. If you want to get that cute and adorable outfit in time for Christmas, then you better order it early.

#3. Don’t Forget Baby’s First Christmas Ornament

Don’t feel like this is something you HAVE to do, but it does make the holidays a little more fun. Buying or making baby’s first Christmas ornament is a fun tradition to have. Each year, you purchase or make an ornament for your child to have. When they get older, they can take their childhood ornaments with them!

#4. Keep Babys First Christmas Stress Free

Celebrating your baby’s first Christmas doesn’t need to be stressful. In fact, the less stressful you make it, the better! Having a stress free holiday will keep everyone happier, especially your baby. You can avoid stress by not overcommitting yourself. You just had a baby, it’s important to take it easy. Remember that it’s okay to say no. You have the rest of your life to say yes to things, saying no is perfectly fine.

#5. Choose a Few Gifts

Although, it may seem weird to buy newborns or very young infants Christmas gifts. It’s not! You can buy a few gifts, just to have fun with it. You can check my Complete Newborn Checklist for some ideas. If you’re on a tight budget, head to your local op shop and pick up some fun everyday items.
